DiSC Personality Stats

When it comes to personality types, taking personality quizzes and assessments has long been a fun and harmless pastime. Of course, some of the personality assessments out there are more reliable and accurate than some of the others that are simply designed for fun! One of the personality assessments that has been gaining traction is the DiSC personality assessment. It is often used in conjunction with work and with the corporate world, to see how individuals would work best within a team.

Read on for some details on the four main DiSC personality types, as well as some more information about this emerging personality assessment.

How Many DiSC Personality Types Are There?

When it comes to the DiSC assessment, there are four main personality styles or disc styles, which are taken from the DiSC acronym. These are Types D, i, S, and C. They are also referred to as the Dominance type, Influence type, Steadiness type, and Conscientiousness type. However, there are other DiSC types, too. Typically, we refer to the four main DiSC types, but very often, people are some sort of combination of two types. For example, a person could be a combination of Dominance and Conscientiousness, which would result in a DC type. Combination types are more balanced personality types and can be less intense due to having more balanced personality traits.

Below, we will list all of the combination DiSC types as well. With these combination types, there are 12 DiSC types, rather than just four. This can make DiSC assessment results a bit more varied, though people often identify with their main DiSC type.

  • DC- Dominance and Conscientiousness
  • Di- Dominance and Influence
  • iD- influence and Dominance
  • iS- Influence and Steadiness
  • Si- Steadiness and Influence
  • SC- Steadiness and Conscientiousness
  • CS- Conscientiousness and Steadiness
  • CD- Conscientiousness and Dominance

What Is the Most Common DiSC Type?

The most common DiSC style of the four main personality types is the Type S DiSC type, which stands for Steadiness. Of the worldwide population, about 32% of people are Type S, making it the most commonly occurring of all DISC types. The Steadiness type is characterized by being steady, stable, reliable, and predictable. They also are known to be friendly and even-tempered, all of which are great traits to have. However, there are some weaknesses of this DiSC type, too, like being too passive in situations where being assertive is necessary.

What Is the Rarest DISC Type?

Above, we went over the most common DiSC type out there. Now, we will go over the most rare of all DiSC types. Of the different DiSC personality types, the rarest is the Type D, or Dominance style. There is only about 9% of the worldwide population that can say they are Type D, making it rarest of all! This DiSC type is characterized by being able to buckle down and concentrate on objectives, and making judgements quickly. They are bold and decisive leaders! One of the weaknesses that comes with this particular DiSC type, though, is that they are perceived to be not able to listen well to others.

How Many People of Each DiSC Type Are There?

We discussed the rarest and most common of all DISC types above. These are the Type D and Type S personality types. However, there are two other main DISC types, being the Type i, or the Influence type, and the Type C, or Conscientiousness type. So, how many people across the world can say that they are of each DISC type? Well, as we discussed previously, Type D accounts for 9% of the world’s population, and Type S is 32% of the population. Type i makes up about 29% of the world’s population, while the last of the four personality types, Type C, is about 30%!

What Is the Best DiSC Type to Have?

There is no “best” DiSC style to have. Each of the four DiSC personality styles (Dominance, Influence, Steadiness, and Conscientiousness) has its own unique strengths and weaknesses, and each can be effective in different situations and roles.

For example, a Dominance or D style can be effective in a leadership role where decisiveness and assertiveness are necessary, while an Influence style can be effective in sales or marketing roles where building relationships and persuading others are important. A Steadiness style can be effective in roles where stability and reliability are valued, while a Conscientiousness style can be effective in roles that require attention to detail and adherence to rules and procedures.

It’s important to remember that the DiSC model is a tool for understanding behaviour and communication styles, and it’s not a measure of intelligence or character. Each style has its own unique contributions to a team or organization, and a diverse mix of styles can lead to better problem-solving, innovation, and creativity.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the rarest DiSC personality?

The rarest of the DiSC personality types is the Type D style, otherwise known as the Dominance style. D style DISC personality type is so rare that they only account for about 9% of the population across the globe! This personality type is known for having some great strengths, such as being able to make judgements quickly or being able to concentrate on objectives. However, they also have some weaknesses, such as not being able to empathize well with others.

Which DiSC personality is most common?

When it comes to how common or how rare the different DiSC profiles are, the Type D is the rarest of them all. On the flip side, though, you may wonder which of the four DiSC personality types occurs most frequently! That would be the Type S, or the Steadiness personality style. This particular DiSC type occurs in 32% of the worldwide population— a number that is much higher than the 9% of the rarest DISC type! Type S personalities have strengths such as being patient and persistent. Sometimes, though, they have weaknesses like being too passive when they need to be more assertive, for example.

What is the most successful DiSC profile?

Judging the DiSC personality profiles on metrics such as which is most successful can be difficult. It can also be subjective! After all, we all define success differently. All of the different personality types and profiles have their own sets of preferences and tendencies, which can make them good fits for different kinds of roles. That being said, the DiSC profile that is considered to be the best type for a leader, or a leadership position, is often said to be the Type D due to their ability to make quick decisions, for instance. The other personality types do have their own benefits, though, if they were to be placed in a leadership position.

Is DiSC personality accurate?

With so many personality types out there, and so many personality quizzes or other ways to commodify personality types, you may wonder if the DISC assessment is actually accurate. When individuals tried to take the test multiple times and see if they would get the same results, they did typically get the same results over time. This means that DISC assessments have a high validity!
